EA Play and Game Pass are often confused, partly because one includes the other. Here’s how they relate.
EA Play
Access to a library of EA titles, early trials of new EA games, and in-game member rewards, on console and PC.
Good if you mainly play EA franchises.
Game Pass
A large rotating catalog from many publishers, plus day-one first-party releases. Ultimate adds cloud gaming, online and EA Play.
Broader value across many studios.
Do you need both?
If you have Game Pass Ultimate, EA Play is already included — no separate purchase needed.
Standalone EA Play makes sense only without Ultimate.
Frequently Asked Questions

Which has more games?
Game Pass, across many publishers.

What each service is
EA Play is a subscription for EA’s own catalogue, member discounts, and early trials. Game Pass is a much broader library across many publishers. The key link: EA Play is included inside Game Pass Ultimate at no extra cost.
So if you already have Ultimate, you get EA Play automatically and do not need to buy it separately.
Which to choose
Pick EA Play on its own if you only want EA titles at a low price. Pick Game Pass (especially Ultimate) if you want a large multi-publisher library plus EA Play bundled in.
For most players who game broadly, Ultimate offers the better overall value.
